Galatians 6:14 – typically, as born-again Christians, changing into God’s glory requires that our greatest boast should be in the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, not any earthly achievement we may have attained. That is, our God-consciousness is expected to always supersede our world-consciousness. Yet, this is not so. Many Christians are walking mixtures of the world and Christ. God-consciousness means that one is dead to the worldly entrapments that ensnare normal men.
For God-conscious people, fruitfulness and potency, come from how much has been surrendered to God’s sovereignty (John 12:24) - ambitions, desires, accomplishments etc. This is made especially possible by putting on, in full measure, the godly qualities mentioned in 2 Peter 1:5-10, to become a fully effective Christian. Note that God-consciousness may be increased with continuous addition of these godly qualities, or reduced by pride (2 Corinthians 10:5) and some other ungodly qualities (Colossians 3:8-10).
The mix of qualities in our character will give off a fragrance that may determine the kind of people around us (SOS. 1:3, Eccl. 10:1). Therefore, let us put off pride, take on the godly qualities and watch God’s glory envelope us.
